Transition signals có thể là từ hay cụm từ giúp thể hiện mối quan hệ giữa các ý trong cùng một câu hoặc trong cùng một đoạn. Vì thế, nó đóng vai trò rất quan trọng trong Writing, tạo nên logic trong câu văn khi sử dụng tiếng Anh và giúp cho bài viết trở nên mạch lạc hơn. Sau đây là các loại Transition signals học sinh có thể áp dụng trong từng trường hợp:
