1. All, most và some

Chúng ta có thể dùng “all, most, some” với một danh từ số nhiều hoặc không đếm được. Danh từ này mang nghĩa chung chung.

Ví dụ:

“All plants need water.”

“Most people would like more money.”

“Some students are reading books.”

2. All of, half of, most of và some of

Chúng ta dùng những cụm từ trên với danh từ/ đối tượng cụ thể.

Ví dụ:

“Half of the plants died?” - “No, not all of them”

“Most of the people who live around here are workers.”

“Half of the audience left before the end of the film.”

“Some of that food from the party was all right, but I threw some of it away.”

3. “All” vừa mang nghĩa “mọi thứ” vừa mang nghĩa “duy nhất”

Ví dụ:

“Tell me all you know.” = “Tell me everything”

→ Trong trường hợp này “all” mang nghĩa “mọi thứ/ tất cả”

“All I did was ask a simple question.” = “The only thing I did was ask a simple question.”

→ Trong trường hợp này, “all” mang nghĩa điều duy nhất.

“No” và “none”

- Chúng ta sử dụng “no” với một danh từ

Ví dụ: “I’m afraid I’ve got no money.”

- “none” có thể dùng với với giới từ “of” hoặc đứng một mình.

Ví dụ:

“None of my friends will be at the party.”

“I wanted some cakes, but there was none left.”
