1. Words that add information: (Các từ dùng để thêm thông tin)

Some words that add information are and (và), another (một …nữa), also (ngoài ra), besides (bên cạnh đó), furthermore (ngoài ra), in addition (ngoài ra), moreover (ngoài ra), for example (chẳng hạn như), first of all (trước hết), second (thứ hai là), third (thứ ba là).

Below are some examples:

• The little girl put on her yellow shirt and brown overalls.

• We will be here for one more week, so we can finish up our work. Another reason we are staying longer is because we do not want to miss the Deaf Way conference.

• Crystal likes camping in the mountains. Also, Crystal is an experienced hiker.

• I admire I. King Jordan because he is the first deaf president of Gallaudet. Besides, I admire him because he is a great long-distance runner. Furthermore, he is a dedicated family man. All in all, there is not much to dislike about the man, except he is too perfect!

• Chris is on the basketball team this semester at the Indiana School for the deaf. In addition, he is on the soccer team.

• This school is perfectly located. Moreover, it has a strong academic program. For example, the school has a preschool program where both deaf and hearing children learn together.

• First of all, pour a half-cup of milk in the bowl; second, add two eggs; and third, stir the mixture.

2. Words that repeat information (Các từ dùng để nhắc lại thông tin)

Some words that repeat information are in fact (thật vậy), in other words (nói theo một cách khác là), to put it another way (nói theo một cách khác là), to repeat (nhắc lại là), once again (nhắc lại lần nữa là).

Below are some examples:

• Lisa decided not to go to King Islands. In fact, she told me, "No way."

• I feel that our last meeting did not go well. In other words, it was a fine mess.

• Sally has lost an oar on her boat and she is in big trouble. To put it another way, Sally has to find a different method of rowing or she will sink!

• That area is very dangerous for you to bike in. To repeat, I warn you not to go there.

• Donovan took her finished product to every large manufacturer in the country, but once again she found no takers.
